Travala, the Singapore-based crypto-native travel platform, has launched Travel MCP, a protocol that allows AI agents to search, reserve and initiate payment for hotel stays using USDC on Base - a dollar-pegged stablecoin running on Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network.
The system is built around Model Context Protocol - an open standard that lets AI apps connect to external tools and data systems - and is already live through Claude Desktop, Anthropic’s Claude app for Mac and Windows. Third-party developers can also integrate it into their own AI travel agents.
The company’s bold claim is that this points to the “death of the checkout button.” The reality is more measured: the traveler still needs to approve the final payment.
lt is interesting to see that we are moving from "Can AI recommend the right hotel?" to "Can AI complete the booking?"
For now, the crypto layer keeps this niche. The bigger question for travel sellers is whether checkout eventually becomes just an approval step inside an AI interface.
